Echinacea - A Personal Review
The Echinacea benefit...
A personal review of how echinacea benefits me as a ME/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome sufferer, and how it zaps colds and flu like nothing else...
As part of my ME/CFS recovery program, I take echinacea and have found
that it zaps colds and flu like nothing else.
I take echinacea tablets three weeks on, then three weeks off.
Many research sources recommend this because otherwise it apparently
loses it’s efficacy. Having said that, I have also read sources that
say that you can take echinacea all the time. But to err on the
side of caution, I prefer to leave a gap inbetween when I take echinacea
...the echinacea benefits make such a difference to my well-being,
that I would hate to lose any of its effectiveness.
Despite the many advantages of taking echinacea, it's worth noting that there are certain types of people who should not take echinacea so it’s
worth looking into it some more, or maybe asking your doctor before you
take it. Diabetics, for example, are advised against taking echinacea.
The Echinacea Benefit
I take echinacea tablets (by Bioforce) - two every morning, for three weeks.
Then I take a break for three weeks.
If I feel the beginnings of a cold, in addition to taking the echinacea
tablets, I will drink echinacea tea (100% tea bags - the
flavoured ones obviously have less echinacea in them). I find that this
combination of echinacea usually either zaps the cold (or flu) or
definitely gets rid of most of it (echinacea benefit ).
That (in addition to Vitamin C, zinc, and Pure
Synergy), taken daily, is the reason why the frequency of my colds and
flu have decreased from one every other day or so, to one every
now and then!
Research On The Benefits Of Echinacea
A research paper published in the The Lancet Infectious Diseases has shown that echinacea can more than half the risk of catching the common cold. According to the BBC, US researchers led by Dr Craig Coleman from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy, have found that:
"[echinacea] decreased the odds of developing a cold by 58% and the duration of colds by a day-and-a-half.
(...) In one of the 14 studies the researchers reviewed, echinacea was taken alongside vitamin C. This combination reduced cold incidence by 86%.
When echinacea was used alone it reduced cold incidence by 65%."

My Personal Experience Of The Echinacea Benefit ...
At the time of writing this, I’ve had two little colds in the past few days because I went overseas
to stay with family - that obviously made my system a lot weaker because
I hardly ever go out as it is.
... I took echinacea each time my cold was developing, and the
cold went away. In fact, I was developing a cold earlier today
and the echinacea has succeeded in keeping it at bay once again. (echinacea
My point is, that I can’t actually remember the last time
I had a cold before that point! It’s been so long that I can’t
remember! (echinacea benefit ) And that’s a miracle for me because I used to go through
tissue boxes at the speed of light because of the number of colds
I had - in fact I spent more days having colds than not!
You’ve probably heard of vitamin C and zinc, but the other
thing that I think has helped keep my colds at bay is Pure
Synergy, which is the best energy drink in my humble opinion (find out about the power of super food here ...)
